Chris Hemsworth set to play Prince Charming in Paul King’s live-action Disney movie

October 23, 2024 by Matt Rodgers

Chris Hemsworth is in talks to return to the realm of fairy-tales for Paddington-director Paul King’s live-action Prince Charming movie.

According to Deadline the Snow White and the Huntsman star is set to embody the iconic Disney character in the Simon Farnaby and Jon Croker scripted film.

A Prince Charming movie has been in the works since as far back as 2015, with some reports suggesting that Disney were looking to turn the character, who first appeared as Cinderella‘s slipper-fitting fop, into a something of a buffoon. However, with Wonka‘s Paul King on board you can expect the film to find a different take on the material, with the bumbling-Prince routine having already been exhausted in everything from Enchanted to Frozen, and the fact that recent Disney protagonists were all lacking the classic love-interest.

At this early development stage plot details are thin on the ground, but sources reveal that the film won’t be linked to Cinderella.

Hemsworth, who can can currently be seen in Transformers One, is in real need of a big hit following that film’s underwhelming box-office performance ($119M worldwide), which itself came off the back of the car-crash that was Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga ($173M worldwide).

Let us know whether you think Prince Charming will be the film to do that by heading to our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
