Cillian Murphy in talks for A Quiet Place 2

March 31, 2019 by Ricky Church

With production prepping for a summer shoot, the sequel to John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place may be gearing up its cast now as The Hollywood Reporter has announced Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders) has begun talks to join the film.

Not much is known about the story, but it will see Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe reprise their roles as the Abbott family as the sequel continues their journey. The role Murphy is in talks for is “a man with mysterious intentions who joins the family unit.” Much like the first film, Krasinski has written the sequel’s script and will once again be in the director’s chair.

Krasinski had previously teased about exploring other parts to the Quiet Place world, hinting that the sequel could go in a completely different direction and follow a new set of characters. That was one of two options, with the other being to stick with the Abbott family. Krasinski and producers Andrew Form, Brad Fuller and Michael Bay obviously decided to go with the second option of the Abbott family’s return.

A Quiet Place was one of the big surprise hits of last year, grossing $340 million worldwide from a budget of just $17 million. The sequel is set to arrive in cinemas on May 15th, 2020.
