Classic XBLA title Breath of Death VII: The Beginning gets Reanimated with remake

December 13, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Shadow Layer Games have taken the classic Breath of Death VII: The Beginning, which was a hit in the XBLA charts more than ten years ago, rebuilt it from the ground up and released it today for PC via Steam. Breath of Death VII: The Beginning: Reanimated takes players to a post-apocalyptic world for a bone-rattling adventure.  Watch the new trailer below….

Set in a world long after humans have gone extinct due to nuclear war, Dem the skeleton knight, Sara the ghost historian, Lita the vampire techie and Erik the zombie prince venture out on an adventure to dig up the past in this parody of 16-bit Japanese RPGs.

This brand-new version of the game has been rebuilt from scratch, with new detailed visuals, animation and audio all while maintaining the classic feel of the original.

Breath of Death VII: The Beginning: Reanimated features:

  • Upgraded visuals and a polished user interface that blends the charm of the original with a new pixel-art look.
  • Fast-paced, turn-based combat that keeps the action smooth and quick.
  • Beat enemies by using the game’s combo system. Increase the hit count to power up the special abilities.
  • Combine the strengths of multiple characters for more powerful or advanced battle effects.
  • Frequent level-ups that allow players to customise their characters by choosing from new abilities or stat boosts.
  • A new original soundtrack from HyperDuck SoundWorks.
  • A new Dragonduck Mode that takes Dem the Skeleton to a brand-new world map to face the Dragonducks and gather new relics.
  • A 4-6 hour long campaign with different difficulty settings and game modes to add replay value.
