Comic Book Review – Orphan Black #2

March 20, 2015 by Andrew Newton

Andrew Newton reviews Orphan Black #2…

One of a kind. When Sarah attempted to assume the identity of a lookalike stranger, she soon uncovered an earth-shattering secret: she is a clone. Sarah also learns that someone is trying to kill them all, one by one. That someone is another clone, Helena, a murderous, self-abusing fundamentalist who believes she is the “original” and all her other sisters are “abominations” to be eradicated.

Issue 2 of Orphan Black is out and IDW are probably hoping for the same success as issue 1 which shifted almost 500,000 copies.  It’s no surprise that the comic is doing well however, as for those who don’t know, it is based on the fairly successful TV show of the same name.

In this issue Sarah discovers that there is yet another clone called Helena (a brain-washed murderess) who is trying to kill the other clones.  It’s every bit as exciting and action packed as the thrilling TV show and it leaves .

With a story that is very closely related to the television series and also written by the creators (Graeme Manson and John Fawcett)  this is definitely a series that is sticking true to its source material.  Szymon Kudranski provides the artwork for the issue and cleverly uses black and white images to differentiate between memories, thoughts and actual events.

If you are familiar with the show then this is a good fan piece, if you haven’t seen the show yet then this is a good introduction.  Enjoy.
