Dan Stevens to suit up for Prime Video’s RoboCop series

August 25, 2026 by Matt Rodgers

Old Detroit has a brand new Alex Murphy with the news that Dan Stevens (The Guest, Beauty and the Beast) is suiting up for Prime Video’s Robocop series.

Officially greenlit last month, the eight-part Robocop series from Amazon MGM Studios has been assembled over the last couple of years, and now Stevens has inherited the armour from Peter Weller in the original Paul Verhoeven film.

Per Deadline’s report the series, which is being written by showrunner Peter Ocko (Lodge 49, Pushing Daisies), will focus on a giant tech conglomerate that persuades the city to install a powerful robot on its police force. A robot implanted with the consciousness of a beloved fallen officer, Alex Murphy.

Released in 1987, Paul Verhoeven’s Robocop earned $54 million at the North American box-office, and is widely regarded as one of the seminal science-fiction movies. Two sequels of diminishing returns followed – RoboCop 2 in 1990 and RoboCop 3in 1993 – while a 2014 reboot starring Joel Kinnaman malfunctioned in 2014.

Next up for Stevens is a reunion with his The Guest director Adam Wingard for super-soldier action thriller Onslaught.
