Daredevil: Born Again & The Penguin have halted production indefinitely

June 17, 2023 by EJ Moreno

As the picketing heats up, two major comic book-based television productions are about to cool down.

Deadline has recently broken the news that Max’s The Penguin and Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+ have halted production indefinitely. Due to the WGA Strike, picketing, and the overall climate of the film industry right now, the teams for both felt it was easier to wait.

Both shows started filming around the same time back in late February/early March. Per Deadline, Daredevil: Born Again is only three months into an eight-month shoot, which has been filming in and around New York. The outlet notes that The Penguin is further along in production due to the shorter nature of the series (Daredevil has 18 episodes, while Penguin has only eight), but it still has some way to go before wrapping.

Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again includes Netflix Marvel veterans Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Vincent D’Onofrio (Kingpin), and Jon Bernthal (The Punisher) in the series, while MCU newcomers include Sandrine Holt as Vanessa Fisk and Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Arty Froushan, and Nikki M. James in as yet-unrevealed roles.

The WGA Strike began on May 2nd, 2023, and there’s no end date in sight at the time of writing.
