Darren Aronofsky to direct Austin Butler in Caught Stealing

March 27, 2024 by Matt Rodgers

Austin Butler stratospheric rise is set to continue with the news that he is to headline Darren Aronofsky’s crime drama Caught Stealing.

Following his Academy Award nominated turn in Baz Luhrman’s Elvis, Butler has had his choice of projects, appearing in Masters of the Air and Dune Part 2, and now according to Deadline he is teaming up with fellow Academy Award nominee Darren Aronofsky (The Fountain, Black Swan) for Sony Pictures adaptation of Charlie Huston’s Caught Stealing.

Huston will adapt the screenplay from his own novel, which tells the story of Hank Thompson, a burned-out former baseball player, who is unwittingly plunged into a wild fight for survival in the downtown criminal underworld of ‘90s New York City.

Next up for Butler is Jeff Nichols delayed motorcycle drama The Bikeriders. You can check out the trailer for the movie and then read our review of the film here.
