David Bradley confirms he will return as Walder Frey in Game of Thrones

August 9, 2015 by Gavin Logan

He hasn’t been seen for going on two full seasons but it looks like the villainous Walder Frey will be making a return to HBO’s Game of Thrones. The man behind one of the show’s most shocking moments, The Red Wedding, may have even eclipsed King Joffrey as the most hated villain on the show after the events of “The Rains of Castamere” where he colluded with Roose Bolton to take down Robb Stark, his wife Talisa, his mother Catelyn and a large group of Stark banner-men.

Speaking recently to Zap2It David Bradley mentioned that Frey will definitely make a return but refused to give any more details about how and when:

“He will be coming back, but I can’t say when…I can’t really say because things are in a delicate situation.”

While the actor doesn’t say if Frey will show up next season or not, an interesting casting call from last week – as reported by Watchers on the Wall – hints that a new character may be a son of Walder Frey. Check out the detailed description below:

“This is a very good part in this season who appears in three episodes. We need a characterful-looking guy – long nose and skeletal features and perhaps a bit sly – to play a son who is unable to live up to the demands of his savage father. We need a really good actor for this part – he has good scenes with lots of the leading cast. The character has a great storyline. There are no options and this is a one-off opportunity for a good clever actor to come and make his mark on this major hit show.”

David Bradley also commented on how much he relishes playing the character: “I do look forward to it, because I do love playing someone so irredeemable…I’m afraid he makes me laugh because he’s so appalling that there’s a kind of dark humor in there somewhere.”

Do you want to see Walder Frey return next season? Of course you do. We all want to see him get his comeuppance don’t we?
