For the past few months, Neil Gaiman has been hard at work on Good Omens, Amazon’s upcoming adaptation of his and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 fantasy novel, which stars David Tennant the demon Crowley and Michael Sheen as the angel Aziraphale.
During an interview with The Herald, former Doctor Who star Tennant has been speaking about the six-part miniseries, describing it as “quite unlike unlike anything I’ve ever been in before”.
“It’s quite hard tonally to get a grip on what Good Omens is, because it’s this very unique world that comes from Terry and Neil’s novel – and from the scripts, which Neil has adapted pretty faithfully from that novel,” said Tennant. “I think it’s quite unlike anything I’ve ever been in before and possibly anything many people have seen before. It’s like a sort of fairy tale with a kind of very real world setting. It’s a farce and it’s also deeply serious. It’s all things at once and not quite any one of them.”
In addition to his work on Good Omens, it has also been announced this month that Gaiman will now be serving as co-showrunner on the second season of Starz’s American Gods adaptation alongside Jesse Alexander (Star Trek: Discovery).

People have been predicting the end of the world almost from its very beginning, so it’s only natural to be sceptical when a new date is set for Judgement Day. Good Omens will air on Amazon Prime and BBC Two, and features a cast that includes David Tennant (Doctor Who), Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex), Jack Whitehall (Fresh Meat), Michael McKean (Better Call Saul), Miranda Richardson (Churchill), Adria Arjona (True Detective), Nina Sosanya (Marcella), Ned Dennehy (Peaky Blinders), Ariyon Bakare (New Blood), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Anna Maxwell Martin (Becoming Jane), Mireille Enos (The Killing), Lourdes Faberes (Knightfall), and Yusuf Gatewood (The Originals). It is slated to premiere in 2019.
