Dennis Quaid is a serial killer dad in new trailer for Paramount+ series Happy Face

March 5, 2025 by Amie Cranswick

Paramount+ has released a trailer and poster for the upcoming crime drama series Happy Face.

Based on Melissa Moore’s 2018 podcast, and her autobiography Shattered Silence, the series tells the story of Melissa (Annaleigh Ashford) as her estranged father, the serial murderer known as the Happy Face Killer (Dennis Quaid), forces himself back into her life while incarcerated for his crimes.

Joining Ashford and Quaid in the cast are James Wolk, Tamera Tomakili, Khiyla Aynne and Benjamin Mackey. Watch the trailer below…

Inspired by a true-life story, Happy Face follows Melissa Reed (Annaleigh Ashford), daughter of Keith Jesperson, also known as “the Happy Face Killer” (Dennis Quaid). After decades of no contact, Keith forces his way back into his daughter’s life, and Melissa must find out if an innocent man is going to be put to death for a crime her father committed. In the process, she faces a reckoning of her own identity.

Happy Face premieres on Paramount+ on March 20th.
