Details on Star Wars: Ahsoka’s mystery Inquisitor revealed

August 2, 2023 by Gary Collinson

While it’s been established that the mysterious force-users Baylan Skoll (the late Ray Stevenson) and Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno) are set to serve as the primary antagonists alongside Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) in the upcoming Star Wars: Ahsoka series, the trailers and marketing materials have also shown Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano battling another black-clad figure wielding a spinning double-bladed lightsaber synonymous with the Empire’s Jedi-hunting Inquisitors.

Given that Ahsoka takes place in the post-Original Trilogy era of the Star Wars timeline, long after the end of the Empire’s Inqusitorious Program, this certainly raised a few questions, along with plenty of speculation as to the character’s potential identity (e.g. Ahsoka’s fellow Padawan-turned-foe Barriss Offee, who was last seen corrupted by the dark side back in the season five finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars).

Well, it seems we’re not going to have to wait until the series for answers, as the official Star Wars Databank has updated with a new entry for this previously unseen Inquisitor, who is going by the name Marrok.

Once an Inquisitor hunting Jedi for the Empire, the mysterious Marrok now works as a mercenary hired by Morgan Elsbeth to carry out dark deeds. Fully encased in battered battle armor, the warrior still carries a red double-bladed saber with a circular hilt.

It remains to be seen whether there’ll be more than meets the eye with Marrok, or if their role will be little more than another dark side user for Ahsoka to dispatch on her quest to track down Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

Ahsoka stars Rosario Dawson as the titular Ahsoka Tano, Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, David Tennant as Huyang, Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth and Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati.

Star Wars: Ahsoka premieres on Disney+ on August 23rd.
