Director Doug Liman talks Splinter Cell movie

June 1, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Speaking to IGN to promote the release of his latest movie, the Tom Cruise-headlined sci-fi Edge of Tomorrow [read our review here], director Doug Liman has taken the opportunity to briefly discuss his next project Splinter Cell, which will see Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises, Locke) starring as Sam Fisher in an adaptation of the hugely successful Tom Clancy video game series.

“I’m working on the script with Tom Hardy. I think we have a great take on how to make an awesome film out of that. Everything about Splinter Cell will be younger. It’s a chance to come up with a new franchise that is fresher and newer and younger, and Tom Hardy is such an incredible actor. Some of the tropes of the game will for sure be in the film, but also the fun of that is when you lose them. To strip that stuff away and really make the character have to operate without it.”

Splinter Cell fans – what do you make of Liman’s plans for the movie?
