Disney to unleash Star Wars: Episode IX and Frozen 2 merchandise this October

February 17, 2019 by Gary Collinson

If you’re a big fan of Star Wars and/or Frozen (or you have children that are), get ready for your bank balance to take a major hit this October as Disney has announced that it will launch its new Star Wars: Episode IX and Frozen 2 merchandise around the globe on October 4th.

“This is truly an epic moment for fans, families and retailers as products for two of the biggest-ever entertainment franchises hit shelves simultaneously,” says Ken Potrock, President, Consumer Products Commercialization. “We’ll be working with our partners to create suitably spectacular celebrations for each, in line with the excitement and anticipation of the legions of Star Wars and Frozen fans around the globe.”

“With Disney’s Frozen 2 and Star Wars: Episode IX both launching in the same year, it will be a notable time for the toy industry,” added Juli Lennett, Vice President, Industry Advisor for The NPD Group’s U.S. toys division. “If history is any indication of future success, both Frozen and Star Warswill be among the top-selling properties of 2019, just as they were in 2014 and 2015/2016, respectively.”

This year’s Force Friday – dubbed ‘Triple Force Friday’ will see the launch of toys and merchandise for Star Wars: Episode IX, the highly anticipated final instalment of the Skywalker Saga, along with products for the Disney+ live-action TV series The Mandalorian and EA and Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Meanwhile, Frozen Fan Fest will also kick off on October 4th, and includes product reveals, musical moments, in-store events and more, continuing through until the premiere date of Frozen 2 with an assortment of products that includes toys, apparel, fashion accessories, housewares, and books.
