Duncan Jones reveals release date for Netflix’s Mute

January 20, 2018 by Matt Rodgers

While there’s some disappointment that Mute, the new film from Warcraft and Source Code director Duncan Jones, will be bypassing cinemas and heading straight to Netflix, it does mean that you’ll get to watch it sooner than you might think. Jones has used his Twitter account to reveal the streaming debut date of his Alexander Skarsgård fronted mystery.

In the film, Skarsgård plays a mute bartender named Leo who sets out on a mission to find his girlfriend Naadirah (Seyneb Saleh) when she goes missing. On his noir-ish quest, he dives “deep into the city’s seedy, neon underworld” and constantly comes across two sketchy American surgeons (Rudd and Theroux), who serve as his only clue.

Mute has been a passion project of Jones’ for years and the director has even said in the past that it serves as a semi-sequel or at the very least is somehow connected to his directorial debut, Moon. Jones also scripted the film along with Pompeii writer Michael Robert Johnson.

Mute will debut on Netflix February 23rd.
