Edgar Wright is not opposed to the idea of directing a DCEU movie

July 3, 2017 by Jordan Jones

Given all of the drama surrounding Marvel’s Ant-Man a few years ago, one would be forgiven to assume that director Edgar Wright (Baby Driver) is out of the comic-book adaptation game for good. Well, maybe not.

Screen Geek recently interviewed Edgar Wright, and asked the director if he would consider helming a movie in the DC Extended Universe. His answer was short, but interesting: “I don’t know. I’m really not too familiar with their heroes, so I couldn’t say which one I would do.”

While that is barely proof he that would join the DC Universe, the simple fact that the answer wasn’t an emphatic “NO” speaks volumes.

Edgar Wright is riding high on the success of his recent thriller Baby Driver, but when he decides to move onto his next project, it would be an interesting move to join Marvel’s chief rival. Wright has spoken at length of his experience working on Ant-Man, and he didn’t seem to leave on the best note:

“The most diplomatic answer is I wanted to make a Marvel movie but I don’t think they really wanted to make an Edgar Wright movie…Suddenly becoming a director for hire on it, you’re sort of less emotionally invested and you start to wonder why you’re there really.”

Wright also recently spoke about how hard it was when Ant-Man premiered with someone else at the helm (Peyton Reed). It was clearly a bad experience all around. Who knows? Maybe returning to the comic-book world, and having a legitimately good experience this time is what he needs?

What DC superhero would you like to see Edgar Wright take on? Let us know in the comments below…
