Everything Everywhere All At Once directors The Daniels set new film for 2026

March 1, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert have begun the mission to follow up the iconic Best Picture winner Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Variety reports that the filmmaking duo, the Daniels, will direct a new movie for Universal Pictures. The studio recently signed an exclusive first-look deal with the filmmakers. As for now, the project is only known as “Untitled Event Film Directed by Daniels.”

There’s no plot, genre, actors, or title information. Before nailing the Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Daniels worked in music videos and even helmed the gross-out comedy Swiss Army Man. That leaves this upcoming project truly open to whatever the filmmakers can cook up.

For those living under a rock during its release, A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once became the first indie to gross $100 million at the global box office since the pandemic. It won seven Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Actress, and Best Director.

When the first-look deal was signed, Universal chief Donna Langley sang high praise of the Daniels, saying they “evolved their craft with a distinct vision and singular voice that is unmistakable,” as well as completing their box office appeal.

At the time of writing, the film is set for sometime in 2026.
