Exclusive Interview – Scoring Last Night in Soho with composer Steven Price

Oscar, Emmy and BAFTA award winning composer Steven Price excels in unique musical collaborations. From Joe Cornish to David Ayer and onwards to Edgar Wright, he has crafted scores which are at once inherently individual yet stylistically universal. His is a rare gift, which has seen movies including Attack The Block, Fury and Baby Driver elevated through compositions which emotionally underpin without impinging on creative visions.

In his latest collaboration with Edgar Wright for Last Night in Soho, Steven Price demonstrates their creative shorthand, unspoken trust and unifying thought process through a genuinely evocative score. Mixing Sixties nostalgia with contemporary instrumentation and a dash of Argento inspired horror, Last Night in Soho marks another slice of fried gold from Wright’s cinematic rolodex. Steven Price recently took time out to talk to Martin Carr about his involvement and what makes this project so special. Watch the interview here…

Eloise, an aspiring fashion designer, is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s where she encounters a dazzling wannabe singer, Sandie. But the glamour is not all it appears to be and the dreams of the past start to crack and splinter into something far darker.

Last Night in Soho is directed by Edgar Wright and features a cast that includes Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit), Thomasin McKenzie (Jojo Rabbit), Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Michael Ajao (Attack the Block), Synnøve Karlsen, Diana Rigg (Game of Thrones), Terence Stamp (The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert), and Rita Tushingham (My Name is Lenny).
