Exclusive: Marvel’s Hawkeye series won’t arrive on Disney+ in 2021

February 24, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Last month, Murphy’s Multiverse reported that Marvel’s Hawkeye series had been removed from the studio’s 2020 production slate and was facing an indefinite delay, although the rumour was subsequently downplayed, with The Verge claiming to have been told by Disney contacts that the information was “completely inaccurate”.

Well, it appears that, despite the denials, the original report may well have been on the money as Flickering Myth has heard that Marvel is no longer targeting a late 2021 premiere for Hawkeye, and the show likely won’t arrive until after the Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and She-Hulk series have aired.

Marvel has already made a couple of changes to its Disney+ schedule since its initial Phase Four announcement, moving WandaVision up from 2021 to later this year, and – if Habsro’s Toy Fair presentation is to be believed – slotting Ms. Marvel into late 2021.

It’s worth noting that Hawkeye was still listed as part of the 2021 slate during Hasbro’s Toy Fair presentation this past weekend, but based on what we’ve been hearing, we believe at this point in time that the Jeremy Renner-led series has indeed been delayed and that Marvel’s focus is now quietly shifting to the three most-recently announced shows.

Assuming it does move forward at some point, the Hawkeye series will see Jeremy Renner reprising his role as Clint Barton alongside the character of Kate Bishop, who in the comic books is Clint’s protege and successor as Hawkeye.
