Ezra Miller to reunite with director Lynne Ramsay for vampire movie

May 27, 2025 by Gary Collinson

Hot off unveiling her latest film – the Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson-led Die, My Love – at the Cannes Film Festival, acclaimed director Lynne Ramsay has been speaking with the Los Angeles Times about her next steps, with the filmmaker revealing that a reunion with her We Need to Talk About Kevin star Ezra Miller is on the cards.

Asked whether she’d like to have made more movies over her career (Die, My Love is just her fifth feature after making her debut in 1999 with Ratcatcher), Ramsay responded: “I’ve written a lot. I’ve got three scripts, one that’s totally ready, one that’s almost ready and then another that’s in development… I’m making a vampire movie. I can’t tell you much. It’s with Ezra Miller who was in Kevin. He’s the main character. That’s in development.”

Adapted from Lionel Shriver’s Orange Prize-winning novel, 2011’s We Need To Talk About Kevin starred Tilda Swinton as a mother trying to cope with the aftermath of the crimes of her psychopathic mass-murdering teenage son, the titular Kevin, played by Miller in their breakthrough role. The actor went on to star as Barry Allen/The Flash in the DC Extended Universe as well as Credence Barebone in the Fantastic Beasts films, although their career derailed in recent years due to a series of off-screen controversies and legal issues, with their most recent appearance being 2013’s The Flash solo movie.

Ramsay’s Die, My Love premiered in Cannes this month, where it was picked up by arthouse distributor Mubi in a deal worth $24 million. The film, which sees Lawrence portraying a mother with postpartum depression who begins to suffer psychosis, is expected to release later this year ahead of a potential awards run.
