Fast X adds Alan Ritchson as Louis Leterrier confirmed to replace Justin Lin as director

May 13, 2022 by Ricky Church

The Fast X saga continues as Deadline reports that Jack Reacher star Alan Ritchson has become the latest to join the film’s cast, while Louis Leterrier has been confirmed to replace Justin Lin as the director on the two-part finale to Universal’s mega-franchise.

Franchise veteran Lin left the film after creative differences with Universal and reports of tension between him and lead star Vin Diesel, opting to exit the director’s chair and forfeiting between $10 – 20 million to stay and work under the stressful conditions.

Leterrier has worked on his fair share of action films, including two of the Transporter movies, Unleashed, The Incredible Hulk, Clash of the Titans and Now You See Me. His latest work includes Netflix’s The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and Lupin. Meanwhile, Lin will stay on as a producer for Fast X.

He joins a cast that includes Fast & Furious veterans Vin Diesel, Sung Kang, Nathalie Emmanuel, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Charlize Theron, and franchise newcomers Jason Momoa, Daniela Melchior and Brie Larson.

Fast X will be released on May 19th, 2023.
