First Citadel spinoff Citadel: Diana gets a trailer

September 12, 2024 by Ricky Church

Amazon MGM’s spy series Citadel is about to expand as the streamer has released the trailer for its first spin-off, Citadel: Diana. The series follows a new character from the Citadel spy agency played by Matilda De Angelis (The Undoing) as she goes undercover in Manticore, Citadel’s rival organization, in Italy. Watch the trailer below…

Citadel was created by Anthony and Joe Russo and starred Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) and Priyanka Chopra (Quantico). It followed the top secret and worldwide spy agency Citadel in the aftermath of a massive attack against them, wiping out nearly all of its bases and agents while Madden and Chopra’s characters survived but had their minds wiped. After years of living different lives and identities, they have to find their way back to each other as Manticore prepares a new attack.

Citadel premiered on Amazon last year and immediately announced future spin-offs when it concluded its first season. In addition to Italy’s Citadel: Diana the franchise will see India get its own iteration with Citadel: Honey Bunny, which is set to premiere in November. Each Citadel spin-off will be filmed in the country’s native language with local talent and filmmakers behind its production.

Milan, 2030: Eight years ago, the independent global spy agency Citadel was destroyed by the powerful enemy syndicate, Manticore. Since then, Diana Cavalieri, an undercover Citadel agent, is alone, trapped behind enemy lines as a mole in Manticore. When she finally sees a way out and the chance to disappear forever, the only way to do so is trusting the most unexpected ally, Edo Zani, the heir of Manticore Italy and son of the head of the Italian organization, Ettore Zani, who’s vying for leadership against the other European families.

Citadel: Diana stars Matilda De Angelis, Lorenzo Cervasio, Maurizio Lombardi, Julia Piaton, Thekla Reuten, Daniele Paoloni, Bernhard Schütz and Filippo Nigro. It is being showrun and executive produced by Gina Gardini with Arnaldo Catinari directing and Alessandro Fabbri writing the six episode season. The Russo Brothers are also serving as executive producers.

Citadel: Diana will premiere on October 10th.
