Apple TV+ has shared a first look image at Chief of War, the upcoming historical drama series starring, executive-produced and written by Jason Momoa (Aquaman, A Minecraft Movie).
Chief of War reunites Momoa with Apple TV+ following the sci-fi drama series See, which aired for three seasons between 2019 and 2022. The nine episode series is based on true events and tells the story of the unification and colonization of Hawai’i at the turn of the 18th century, with Momoa portraying Ka’iana, a warrior who seeks to unify the islands before the advent of Western colonization.
Featuring alongside Jason Momoa in the cast of Chief of War are Luciane Buchanan, Temuera Morrison, Te Ao o Hinepehinga, Cliff Curtis, newcomer Kaina Makua, Moses Goods, Siua Ikale’o, Brandon Finn, James Udom, Mainei Kinimaka and Te Kohe Tuhaka.
Chief of War will premiere on Apple TV+ on Friday August 1st 2025 with two episodes, followed by additional episodes every Friday through to September 19th.
