Fletch reboot gets new home, Jason Sudeikis in talks to star

April 16, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

After many failed attempts to get the franchise up and running again, comedy-caper Fletch has found a new home, with Relativity Studios snapping up the rights from Warner Bros.

In the two previous films, 1985’s Fletch and the 1989 sequel Fletch Lives, Chevy Chase played the title role, but in the new version it looks like Horrible Bosses star Jason Sudeikis is set to take over, with the comedian reportedly in negotiations with the studio.

Gregory McDonald’s 11 mystery books, the first of which was published in 1974, center on a reporter named I.M. Fletcher who juggles writing exposes while avoiding headaches caused by his two ex-wives.

Previous attempts to revive the franchise nearly came to fruition in the early 2000’s when Kevin Smith was attached to direct with Zach Braff (Scrubs) in the title role, before both left the project, which was then called Fletch Won.
