Coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the movie adaptation, Fox has announced that it is remaking the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show with a two-hour taped event special, which is being developed by Kenny Ortega (High School Musical, Michael Jackson’s This Is It).
Deadline reports that the tentatively titled The Rocky Horror Picture Show Event is described as “a reimagining of the campy horror feature [that will] stick faithfully to the text and the score of the original but greatly reimagine the story visually”.
The project has been in development at Fox since 2002, where it was originally looking at a 2003 premiere to mark the 30th anniversary of Richard O’Brien’s original Rocky Horror Show musical.
