FX’s Alien series adds David Rysdahl to its cast

November 29, 2023 by Ricky Church

Not long after announcing Justified star Timtohy Olyphant’s casting, FX’s Alien TV series has added yet another familiar name from its network to Noah Hawley’s upcoming series. Per Deadline, Fargo‘s David Rysdahl has joined in a series regular role.

Unlike much of the announced cast, details on Rysdahl’s character are unknown. Leading the series is Sydney Chandler (Don’t Worry Darling) as Wendy, a hybrid meta-human who has the brain and consciousness of a child but the body of an adult. Olyphant will play Kirsh, a synth who acts as a mentor and trainer to Wendy.

Little is known about the series itself, but it will be a prequel to Ridley Scott’s iconic Alien and the start of Ellen Ripley’s journey. It will also be the first Alien project to take place on Earth rather than in space or on a colony world with the setting approximately 70 years into the future.

Rysdahl was recently seen in this summer’s Christopher Nolan blockbuster Oppenheimer, where he played chemist Donald Hornig at the Los Alamos base helping create the first atomic bomb. He can currently be seen in Hawley’s Fargo series on FX, which will run until mid-January.

The Alien series also stars Alex Lawther (The End of the F***ing World) as a soldier named CJ, Samuel Blenkin (The Witcher: Blood Origin) as Boy Kavalier, a CEO, alongside Essie Davis (The Babadook) as Dame Silvia, Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger) as Slightly and Kit Young (Shadow and Bone) as Tootles. Filming on the series is set to resume in Thailand this coming January.
