Gal Gadot was the runner up behind Charlize Theron to play Mad Max: Fury Road’s Furiosa

September 7, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Gal Gadot has revealed that she nearly played Mad Max: Fury Road’s Furiosa, a part that was ultimately portrayed by Charlize Theron.

Gadot has shot into superstardom in recent times after her portrayal of Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman:
Dawn of Justice
and even more so in the character’s self titled solo movie.

But before she was saving the world, Gadot was apparently up for the role of Furiosa in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road. And according to the Israeli actress, she nearly got it. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter she revealed she was the “runner-up”.

“I had so many almosts for big, great things,” Gadot explained. “But I was never big enough of a name. It was always me and the big name [actress]. By then, I was married and I already had my first daughter, and going back and forth from Israel, and dragging everyone with me, and trying and feeling the pressure of, I’m coming here, now I’ve gotta book something! I’ve gotta get a role in something.”

Things turned out alright for Gadot in the end, and the actress doesn’t hold any hard feelings for Theron landing the coveted role, saying: “Charlize, I love.”
