Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey lends her voice to Danger Mouse reboot

July 13, 2015 by Gavin Logan

If you watched Danger Mouse as a kid in the 80s then your childhood was probably pretty cool. UK national treasure David Jason originally voiced the secret agent mouse during its decade long run from 1981 to 1992. It was announced last year that well known British comedian and television show host Alexander Armstrong would take over from David Jason in the BBC’S upcoming reboot and now we have a couple of other big names joining the ranks.

Deadline is reporting that Lena Headey – better known as Cersei Lannister, the baddest bitch in all of Westeros – will lend her voice to the new show as US special agent Jeopardy Mouse. The Daily Show‘s John Oliver will also join the cast, voicing the recurring adversary Dr. Augustus P. Crumhorn III.

The news was first announced late Sunday night during a SDCC panel. Headey explained her decision to join the show:

“I wanted to do it because it was pure nostalgia for me. I have children now and it’s just a treat to be involved in something that you loved as a kid and be able to share it.”

This isn’t the first time Lena Headey has voiced an animated character. She starred as Black Widow and Mystique in 2009’s The Super Hero Squad Show. However her appearance in the reboot of the much loved classic UK cartoon is certainly a shift in what her recent roles have offered.

Oliver was also very excited to be going the cast, “[Danger Mouse] was a significant part of my childhood. So to get a chance to do it is like getting a chance to step into your childhood, which is both a magical and a potentially hazardous thing. It will be awesome, I can’t wait to see it, let alone hear myself in it.”

Headey and Oliver will join the likes of Shauna Macdonald (The Descent) Kevin Eldon (Set Fire to the Stars) and Stephen Fry (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) who had all previously already signed on.
