Game of Thrones prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms gets a poster and January premiere

October 9, 2025 by Gary Collinson

Get ready to return to Westeros in the New Year as HBO launches its second Game of Thrones prequel series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, the series takes place almost a century before the events of Game of Thrones and follows the adventures of the hedge knight Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and his squire Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell). Take a look at the official key art here…

A century before the events of ‘Game of Thrones,’ two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms features Peter Claffey, Dexter Sol Ansell, Finn Bennett, Bertie Carvel, Sam Spruell, Daniel Ings, Tanzyn Crawford, Ross Anderson, Edward Ashley, Henry Ashton, Youssef Kerkour, Daniel Monks, Shaun Thomas, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Steve Wall and Danny Webb.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will premiere in January 2026.
