Gareth Edwards shoots down Star Wars Rebels / Rogue One fan theory

October 15, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Given that they both take place at roughly the same point in time, there’s been a lot of speculation as to whether any characters from the Disney XD animated series Star Wars Rebels could make an appearance in December’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

One theory in particular has suggested that the male Rebel leader played by Alistair Petrie spotted alongside Mon Mothma in the film’s trailers could be Agent Kallus, a member of the Imperial Security Bureau, who many believe could end up defecting to the Rebellion.

While it’s an interesting theory, it is however incorrect, with Rogue One director Gareth Edwards revealing to Entertainment Weekly that the character is actually called General Draven, and has no connection to Kallus.

“His name’s General Draven,” states Edwards. “It’s no official secret. Sometimes I read stuff online like it’s this big thing that’s been leaked, and I thought, ‘Oh, I thought people knew that.’”
