Godzilla vs. Kong lands Death Note director Adam Wingard

May 31, 2017 by Jordan Jones

It looks like Death Note director Adam Wingard is officially directing Godzilla vs. Kong!

Announced today, this could be Legendary Pictures way of finding the horror in two enormous monsters on the loose, and looking for blood. After all, it would be reasonable to assume that a huge fight involving these two beasts would not only be thrilling, but also terrifying.

Wingard has extensive experience in the horror genre, directing the recent Blair Witch, and the phenomenal horror-thriller You’re Next. His work can also be seen in the indie-horror anthologies V/H/S, and V/H/S 2.

It was reported earlier this month that Pirates of the Caribbean writer Terry Rossio is working on a story for the movie and heading a writers room that includes Patrick Mckay, and J.D. Payne (Star Trek: Beyond), Lindsay Beer (Dungeons and Dragons, The Kingkiller Chronicles), T.S. Nowlin (The Maze Runner), Jack Paglen (Alien: Covenant), and J. Michael Straczynski (World War Z).

Godzilla vs. Kong is set for a May 22nd, 2020 release. Before then, we have Godzilla: King of the Monsters which is due to open on March 22nd 2019.
