Gotham has plans to introduce Azrael and Calendar Man

July 14, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Last month Fox released a new synopsis for Gotham, which confirmed that both Mr. Freeze and The Joker are set to feature in the second season of the Batman prequel series (with Mr. Freeze subsequently featuring on the ‘Villains Wall’ at San Diego Comic-Con). Now we have word on more DC characters who could make their debut in season two, with creator and showrunner Bruno Heller offering up a few details during an interview with Comic Book.

“We thought long and hard about [new villains],” said Heller. “There’s so many characters that don’t have an origin story, so it’s not just a question of going back to an origin story, but its who fits in this realistic world? They have to have both feet on the ground. So they have to fit in stylistically. But we found the Mr. Freeze story be quite emotional. That’s one we’re going to look at. Hugo Strange is another interesting character we’re going to look at, as is the Calendar Man. And Azrael is another character that we’re starting at very early stage for. And Tigress as well.”

As we know, Tigress has already been cast, with Jessica Lucas set to play the character. There was early talk that Hugo Strange would make an appearance in the first season, although obviously that didn’t materialise, but this is the first time we’ve heard Calendar man and Azrael brought up as possibilities.

Which characters would you like to see debuting in Gotham?
