Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein circling Mia Goth, Oscar Isaac, and Andrew Garfield

March 19, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Academy Award-winning director Guillermo del Toro is busy crafting his next project, a new version of Frankenstein., and the potential cast for the project is rumored to be filled with some of the brightest young stars.

Deadline reports that Mia Goth (Pearl), Oscar Isaac (Moon Knight), and Andrew Garfield (Spider-Man: No Way Home) are all in talks to join del Toro’s adaptation of Mary Shelley’s iconic piece of literature.

Little is known about the film, with details on del Toro’s creative direction tightly wrapped. Deadline notes “insiders close to the pic caution that del Toro is still working on the script and no formal offers have been given to any actors. But sources add that he has met with all three, and each is on board to star.”

Mia Goth is fresh off a killer string of bizarre films, including 2022’s X and Pearl and this year’s Infinity Pool. She’ll next star in MaXXXine, a sequel to Ti West’s X. Oscar Isaac is quite the busy actor with various blockbuster projects, including Disney’s Star Wars trilogy and Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight. Garfield is familiar with the world of superheroes, starring as Spider-Man and returning the beloved Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio was a massive hit for Netflix, winning acclaim from critics and walking away with many Best Animated Feature awards, including one at this year’s 95th Academy Awards. He also won Best Picture in 2018 for his horror-inspired film The Shape of Water.

Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein is set to premiere on Netflix.
