Gwendoline Christie joins Addams Family series Wednesday

September 18, 2021 by Gary Collinson

THR is reporting that Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie has become the latest addition to the cast of Wednesday, the upcoming live-action Addams Family series from Netflix and filmmaker Tim Burton.

Christie is set to take on the role of Larissa Weems, “the principal of Nevermore Academy who still has an axe to grind with her former classmate Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones).”

Alongside Christie, the supporting/guest cast has also expanded with Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams), Victor Dorobantu (Thing), George Burcea (Lurch), Tommie Earl Jenkins (Mayor Walker), Iman Marson (Lucas Walker), William Houston (Joseph Crackstone), Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Deputy Santiago), Oliver Watson (Kent), Calum Ross (Rowan) and Johnna Dias Watson (Divina).

Wednesday will serve as a sequel to the classic show, following Wednesday Addams’ time as a student at the aforementioned Nevermore Academy. Jenna Ortega leads the cast as Wednesday Addams alongside Luis Guzman as Gomez and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia.

The official description for the series describes it as “a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ (Jenna Ortega) years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.”

Wednesday has been written by showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville), with Tim Burton directing and executive producing.

The eight-episode Wednesday will hit Netflix in 2022.
