Haley Lu Richardson and Emilia Clarke are the CIA’s best kept secrets in Ponies

December 15, 2025 by Gary Collinson

Peacock has officially unveiled a poster, trailer and images for its upcoming female-fronted spy series Ponies ahead of the show’s premiere in January.

Created by Susanna Fogel and David Iserson (The Spy Who Dumped Me), the 70s series stars Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) and Haley Lu Richardson (The White Lotus) as two secretaries in the American Embassy in Moscow who find themselves thrust into the world of espionage when they are recruited by the CIA after the mysterious deaths of their husbands.

Also featuring in the cast are Adrian Lester (Sandman), Artjom Gilz (Das Boot), Nicholas Podany (Hello Tomorrow!), Petro Ninovskyi (Silence), and Vic Michaelis (Very Important People); check out the trailer below…

Moscow, 1977. Two “PONIES” (“persons of no interest” in intelligence speak) work anonymously as secretaries in the American Embassy. That is until their husbands are killed under mysterious circumstances in the USSR, and the pair become CIA operatives. Bea (Emilia Clarke) is an over-educated, Russian-speaking child of Soviet immigrants. Her cohort, Twila (Haley Lu Richardson), is a small-town girl who is as abrasive as she is fearless. Together, they work to uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery that made them widows in the first place.

Ponies will premiere on Peacock on January 15th 2026.
