Harry Potter TV series begins production, shares first look at Harry and Hagrid

With filming on the hugely-ambitious Harry Potter TV series now underway at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK, HBO has marked the occasion by giving fans its first sneak peek at the upcoming television adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s bestselling book series with a look at young actor Dominic McLaughlin as the Boy Who Lived along with Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid; take a look at the behind-the-scenes images here…

Harry Potter will adapt each of Rowling’s books as its own season, with Francesca Gardiner (Killing Eve, Succession) serving as showrunner and Mark Mylod (The Menu, Succession) directing. Both will also serve as executive producers alongside Rowling and Harry Potter franchise veteran David Heyman.

The new Harry Potter TV series features a cast that includes Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander.

Harry Potter is slated to premiere on HBO Max in 2026.
