Hayden Christensen would return to Star Wars “in a heartbeat”

June 11, 2016 by Gary Collinson

He’s been linked to a return to the Star Wars franchise for both Star Wars: Episode VIII and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and while we’re yet to hear if there’s any truth to those rumours (although we do know he definitely won’t be in the Darth Vader suit in the latter), Prequel Trilogy star Hayden Christensen has revealed to eTalk that he would reprise the role of Anakin Skywalker “in a heartbeat” should the opportunity presented itself.

“Absolutely. In a heartbeat, for sure,” said Christensen, who portrayed Anakin in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. “Being a part of that world was a huge deal for me, and was a good four/five years of my life. I have fond memories and good friendships from that whole time. But if they ever gave me the call, I would sign up in a heartbeat.”

While news of Christensen returning to the franchise is likely to stop many fans’ hearts from beating, it’s certainly possible. His Force Ghost was considered for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and if we ever see Vader unmasked – in Rogue One for instance – it would make sense that Lucasfilm would bring Hayden back for the role.
