HBO finds its Dunk and Egg for Game of Thrones prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight

April 10, 2024 by Gary Collinson

As HBO continues to expand the world of Westeros, the cable network has announced that Peter Claffey (Bad Sisters, Wreck) and Dexter Sol Ansell (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, The Moor) have been cast as the lead roles of ‘Dunk’ and ‘Egg’ in the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s Dunk & Egg novellas and taking place a century before the events of Game of Thrones, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms revolves around two unlikely heroes, “a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall (Claffey), and his diminutive squire, Egg (Ansell). Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”
