Henry Cavill officially announces his Superman return

October 25, 2022 by EJ Moreno

If you saw Black Adam this weekend, you witnessed what Henry Cavill calls “just a very small taste of things to come.”

Yes, Cavill is officially back as Superman, donning the famous cape in the latest DCEU film and confirming the news in a new Instagram post.

The actor took to social media on Monday to celebrate Black Adam’s $140 million worldwide debut and his return as the iconic DC character.

“I wanted to wait until the weekend was over before posting this because I wanted to give you all a chance to watch ‘Black Adam,'” Cavill said in the Instagram video. “But now that plenty of you have, I wanted to make it official: I am back as Superman.”

He adds, “Thank you for your support and thank you for your patience,” Cavill said. “I promise it will be rewarded.”

While fans know no further details, it seems like Cavill’s back for more Superman. There are rumblings of the character appearing in The Flash, the upcoming DCEU film set to restart the entire franchise. If true, he’ll appear alongside Ben Affleck’s Batman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman.

Last week, we did report that Man of Steel 2 is in development, with Warner Bros Discovery searching for a new writer. Christopher Mcquarrie is in the running for the gig, potentially reteaming Cavill with his Mission Impossible – Fallout collaborator.
