Hunter Schafer joins Blade Runner 2099 series at Prime Video

June 9, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Hunter Schafer is locking in her next big deal, and it looks to be the perfect sci-fi experience for her unique style.

In a story from Daniel RPK, the high fashion model and actress is set to join Blade Runner 2099. She’s been cast in the lead role of Cora in the upcoming live-action Prime Video series, joining the previously announced Michelle Yeoh, who will play the role of Olwyn.

The synopsis for the series reads: “In Los Angeles 2099, Cora (Schafer) has lived her entire life on the run, a chameleon forced to adopt numerous identities. To secure a stable future for her brother, she assumes one final identity and is forced to partner with Olwen (Yeoh), a Blade Runner who’s confronting the end of her life. The two are pulled into a widening conspiracy that poses an existential threat to a city that’s fighting to be reborn.”

Schafer is best known for her groundbreaking role in HBO’s Euphoria, where she starred alongside Zendaya. We also saw the actress in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, and her upcoming credits include Yorgos Lanthimos’ Kinds of Kindness and the indie horror-thriller Cuckoo.

Silka Luisa (Shining Girls) is the writer, creator and showrunner of the Blade Runner series, which is eying a 2025 release on Prime Video.
