Ian McKellen is Cogsworth in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

April 11, 2015 by James Garcia

According to Variety, Disney has found a thespian to play butler-turned-clock Cogsworth in their live-action Beauty and the Beast adaptation: Sir Ian McKellen.

Directed by Bill Condon (Dreamgirls, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn), the film will star Harry Potter alum Emma Watson as Belle, The Guest‘s Dan Stevens as the Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, Frozen‘s Josh Gad as Le Fou, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts and Kevin Kline as Maurice.

Now if they could just add Sir Patrick Stewart as Lumiere…

Beauty and the Beast, just one of several live-action re-imaginings from the House of Mouse, will hit theaters on March 17, 2017.
