Indiana Jones and the Three Month Delay? Harrison Ford’s injury moves production to September

June 30, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

Harrison Ford isn’t averse to the odd injury; he crashed his plane on a golf course, and the door of the Millennium Falcon crushed him while filming Star Wars: The Force Awakens. So it came as no surprise that during a bout of Indiana Jones style fisticuffs for James Mangold’s long-gestating sequel, the actor hurt his shoulder. What is a disappointing turn of events is that it’s now being reported that we’ll have to wait even longer for the film because production has now been put on hold for three months.

According to multiple reports, the 78-year old Hollywood legend sustained more serious injuries than first thought and will need more time to recuperate before filming resumes in September. The Sun Newspaper have quoted an insider who revealed that “The film’s bosses have come together to work out the scheduling and it’s chaos. The earliest they think they can restart the production is September.”

While plot details are currently being kept under wraps at Disney and Lucasfilm, we do know the film will star Harrison Ford as Indy for the fifth and final time, Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Thomas Kretschmann (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal), and Toby Jones (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) – whose roles are being kept secret.

Indiana Jones 5 sees director James Mangold helming Harrison Ford’s fifth and final outing as the archaeologist and adventurer Indiana Jones with Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall serving as producers, while John Williams will once again compose the score.

Indiana Jones 5 is tentatively slated for a July 29th, 2022 release date.
