It could be ten years before Marvel builds up to another Infinity Saga-level story, says Avengers: Endgame producer

October 28, 2019 by Liam Waddington

Marvel made cinematic history by establishing the Infinity Saga, a storyline that was developed across 11 years and 23 movies beginning with 2008’s Iron Man and ending with 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. However, if you were expecting Marvel to kick off to another Infinity Saga-level story with the upcoming Phase Four, it may be best to lower your expectations.

In an interview with CinemaBlend, Avengers: Endgame producer Trinh Tran was asked if Marvel has plans to create another expansive storyline similar to the Infinity Saga, in which she responded with:

“Our focus right now is to make sure that the titles that we’ve released in Phase Four… obviously those stories are going to be new, exciting, different and can connect with the audience like the other movies have been,” Tran stated. “Over 10 years ago, it’s always been our dream to get to Infinity War and Endgame level. We didn’t know obviously where that was going to go at the start of the studio, but it’s incredible to know that we were able to accomplish that.”

“Now it’d be amazing if we could get to that level 10 years later, so I think it’s a dream to continue doing that and build upon the MCU and the connective tissue that we have,” Tran continued. “And now with obviously our Disney+ side and the shows and how our characters are venturing into that world and how that’s gonna lead to the future and more franchises and more stories and more properties and their connective tissue to the rest of the MCU, it would be amazing to do something like this 10 years later.”

Despite no plans currently in motion at Marvel for another major storyline, that’s not to definitively say they will never work towards another Thanos-level of threat in the future after establishing a brand new lineup of heroes including The Eternals, Shang-Chi, and Blade.
