Jacob Elordi replaces Andrew Garfield in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein

January 8, 2024 by Matt Rodgers

Much like Dr. Victor Von Frankenstein, Guillermo del Toro is still trying to piece together his Netflix monster movie, and has just had to perform some casting surgery by replacing Andrew Garfield with Saltburn and Priscilla star Jacob Elordi.

According to Deadline those pesky scheduling conflicts have put paid to Garfield having nuts n bolts through his neck for the Netflix film, and instead the iconic monster will be embodied by Elordi.

The in-demand actor will join fellow newcomer Felix Kammerer (All Quiet on the Western Front) in lining up alongside the already cast Oscar Issac (Dune) as the Doctor, Mia Goth (Pearl), Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained), Lars Mikkelsen (The Witcher), David Bradley (Harry Potter) and Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth).

Del Toro is writing, directing and producing this adaptation of the Mary Shelley novel, which has been a passion project of his ever since he watched the 1931 James Whale classic, and much like they did with the Oscar winning director’s Pinocchio, Netflix are stumping up the money to bring his creation to life.
