James Bond begins with 007 First Light launch trailer

May 22, 2026 by Andrew Newton

With excitement building ahead of the launch of 007 First Light on 27th May, IO Interactive has released an exciting, action-packed launch trailer (see below). The trailer provides a peek at battles that players will face, the women they may love, and the gadgets they will get to use.

This new origin story for James Bond (played by Patrick Gibson) sees the young agent step into the world of espionage. Although his career starts with clashes with former 00 agent John Greenway, the disciplined and by-the-book training instructor, his support from M takes Bond on an action-packed journey across the world to the hideout of the unpredictable Bawma, played by Lenny Kravitz.

As Bond, players will be able to use different spycrafts that will help them succeed in missions. Whether by visiting Q Branch and getting a range of gadgets for hacking, eliminations and quiet takedowns, or by using Bond’s instincts to lure enemies, bluff their way out of situations, or sharpen focus for combat, there are plenty of different ways for players to approach each mission.

There are also ways to continue the action beyond the story, thanks to Tactical Simulation (TacSim), a replay-focused mode set inside the MI6 secret facility. This will feature the first two missions, where players can experiment with different methods; other missions will become available as players complete them.

007 First Light launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store) on 27th May, and can be pre-ordered now in Standard, Deluxe, Collector’s, and Legacy Editions.
