James Gunn talks about Guardians of the Galaxy 2

October 21, 2014 by admin

With the recent news that Awesome Mix Vol. 1 would be released on special edition cassette next month and Guardians of the Galaxy becoming the third highest grossing Marvel movie (as well as the highest grossing domestic release of 2014), it must be pretty good to be James Gunn right now.

But how is he celebrating the success? By writing the sequel…

“I spent all day on August 1st, the day the first movie was released, writing Guardians 2,” he told Variety. “I was so excited about it and I was finally able to let go of the last one and begin the second one. I always saw this as a universe, not just as one story.”

He also gave a scoop on what we can expect from Guardians of the Galaxy 2, “It’s going to be a really surprising open. What happens is all the characters are killed in the first 10 minutes,” Gunn joked. “In really horribly brutal fashion.”

Okay, so perhaps this not a real “scoop”.

Guardians of the Galaxy sees Gunn directing a cast that includes Chris Pratt (The LEGO Movie) as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora, Dave Bautista (Riddick) as Drax the Destroyer, Bradley Cooper (American Hustle) as Rocket Raccoon, Vin Diesel (Fast & Furious 6) as Groot, Benicio Del Toro (Sin City) as The Collector, Lee Pace (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) as Ronan the Accuser, Karen Gillan (Doctor Who) as Nebula, Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond) as Korath, John C. Reilly (Step Brothers) as Rhomman Dey, Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) as Yondu, Glenn Close (Damages) as Nova Prime Rael and Josh Brolin (Men in Black 3) as Thanos.
