Jane Goldman says Matthew Vaughn is keen on directing Man of Steel 2

July 22, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Following yesterday’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle panel at Comic-Con, Screen Rant caught up with screenwriter Jane Goldman and asked her about the reports linking her frequent collaborator and Kingsman helmer Matthew Vaughn to the director’s chair on Warner Bros.’ long-rumoured Man of Steel sequel.

“I know Matthew’s a big Superman fan,” said Goldman, who was then asked whether she’d be interested in reuniting with him to pen the script. “I don’t know. I mean I’m not sure. I think Matthew’s looking at it from a directing point of view. I have no idea what’s happening there. I’m not sure. There might already be a script for it. I think so… I’m not certain actually but it’s complicated with a character with that kind of history. Obviously X-Men has an equally complicated history, but Superman feels a lot more recent. He’s been brought to life in a new iteration – he means a lot to a lot of people and maybe there are other people with more a connection with Superman… but who knows.”

Going by Goldman’s comments, it certainly sounds like Vaughn has had some discussions with Warner Bros. about Man of Steel 2. Perhaps we’ll get some official news during the DC Extended Universe panel at Comic-Con this Saturday.
