Jason Momoa in talks for Fast & Furious 10 villain

January 29, 2022 by Ricky Church

The two-part finale to The Fast Saga could be enlisting another big name as The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Dune and Aquaman star Jason Momoa is in final talks to join Fast & Furious 10.

Though no specifics are given, Momoa will apparently play one of the film’s villains in what will serve as the first part to the franchise’s two-part finale. Interestingly, this is not Momoa’s first brush with the Fast & Furious franchise as Dwayne Johnson wanted him to join Hobbs & Shaw as Luke Hobbs’ brother, but the scheduling did not work out for him to appear in the film. The role ultimately went to WWE’s Roman Reigns in his big screen debut, though Johnson said Momoa could appear in the Hobbs & Shaw sequel.

That prospect now seems in question should Momoa take on the Fast 10 role, given Johnson’s public refusal to re-join the Fast & Furious series proper, preferring to keep Hobbs & Shaw separate in the face of a public and messy feud between him and the series lead Vin Diesel stemming from behind the scenes problems during the filming of Fate of the Furious.

Should Momoa take on Fast 10’s villain role, it is possible he’ll team up with Charlize Theron’s villainous Cipher. It has yet to be announced if Theron will be back alongside the main cast, but given Theron’s popularity and the fact Cipher once again escaped Dominic Toretto’s clutches in F9, it would be surprising if she did not return for the film.

Fast & Furious 10 will be split into two films to serve as a grand finale for the long-running franchise. While plot details are being kept under wraps for the final two films, the cast will include Vin Diesel, Sung Kang, Nathalie Emmanuel, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson. Justin Lin, the director of the ninth film in the series as well as several previous instalments, is set to return to the director’s chair for the final two films.

Fast & Furious 10 is set for release on May 19th, 2023.
