Javier Bardem’s Max Cady brings the fear in new Cape Fear trailer

May 7, 2026 by Gary Collinson

Ahead of its premiere this July, Apple TV has shared a new trailer for Cape Fear, which sees Javier Bardem taking on the role of the psychotic Max Cady to torment a pair of married attorneys, played by Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson.

Inspired by Martin Scorsese’s 1991 thriller, which like its 1962 predecessor was adapted from John D. MacDonald’s novel The Executioners, the limited series is being showrun by Nick Antosca (Channel Zero, Brand New Cherry Flavor), with Scorsese and Steven Spielberg serving as executive producers alongside Bardem and Adams; check out the trailer below…

A storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Amy Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson) when Max Cady (Javier Bardem), the notorious killer they are responsible for putting behind bars, is let out of prison — and he wants vengeance.

Featuring alongside Amy Adams, Javier Bardem and Patrick Wilson in the cast of the ten-episode series are CCH Pounder, Anna Baryshnikov, Margarita Levieva, Jamie Hector, Lily Collias, Joe Anders, Malia Pyles, Patrick Fischler, Ted Levine and Ron Perlman.

Cape Fear will premiere on Apple TV on July 31st 2026.
