Jennifer Lawrence set for big screen return with new film from A24, plot details revealed

June 5, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence is getting ready to get back in front of the camera after a year-long break, with the actress signing on to star in a mystery project from acclaimed theater director Lila Neugebauer.

Neugebauer will make her big screen directorial debut on the project, working from a script by Elizabeth Sanders. Production is set to get underway in New Orleans this month, with IAC Films and A24 producing.

UPDATE: According to Collider, the film will see Lawrence portraying a U.S. soldier who suffers a traumatic brain injury while on tour in Afghanistan and struggles to recover upon her return home. Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta) has also reportedly been offered the role of the male lead.

Lawrence decided to take a sabbatical from acting following production on last year’s Red Sparrow and mother!. She can currently be seen reprising her role as the shape-shifting mutant Mystique in Fox’s X-Men swansong X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
