John Cena joins the Looney Tunes for Coyote vs. Acme

February 20, 2022 by Gary Collinson

John Cena is joining forces with the Looney Tunes, with the Peacemaker star signing on to reunite with Warner Bros. for its long-planned Looney Tunes movie Coyote vs. Acme.

The live-action/animated hybrid film is being directed by Dave Green (Earth to Echo, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows) and is based upon a 1990 humour article from the New Yorker by Ian Frazier.

As per THR, Coyote vs. Acme will follow “a down-on-his-luck human attorney who takes on Wile E. Coyote as a client in his suit against Acme over its defective products, only to discover that his boss at his former law firm (played by Cena) is representing Acme.”

“I’m very fortunate because it’s a different role for me, so I can’t wait,” Cena tells EW. “A lot of audience members have a different perspective of what I can offer and that’s a really tough hill to climb. Coyote vs. Acme is one of those situations. I’m really happy that Warner Bros. gave me another opportunity to be involved with something that. Like I said, it’s a different role for me and hopefully it will have the same result as Peacemaker, it will be a chance to hone my craft on something a little different. I’m really excited for it.”

Coyote vs. Acme will also reunite Cena with his Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad director James Gunn, who is producing the film alongside Chris DeFaria (Looney Tunes: Back in Action). Filming is set to get underway in March.

Coyote vs. Acme is set for release on July 21st 2023.
